HOW CAN WE ENSURE OUR PLANTS THE OPTIMAL CARE?

2015 | 4 months | University of Wuppertal | Solo-Project

My Crops from Parrot is a Sensor-System, made for Hobby- and garden plot holders.
The project is based on a studio assignment at the University of Wuppertal:

ANALYSE AND RETHINK THE CONCEPT OF A WEATHERSTATION.

The project has no relation to the brand Parrot. The brand was chosen fictionally.

PRODUCT ANALYSIS

To understand the functionality and to set the benchmark for my own product, I analysed a weather station, that is available in many online and electronic stores.

MODELMAKING

THE SENSORS

The Sensor system consists of a weathersensor, as many soil-sensors as the user needs for his plants and a leaf-sensor.

The yellow weather sensor collects data like the temperature, air pressure, air humidity and the amount of precipitation. The soil-sensor measures the soil-temperature, soil-humidity, the pH-value and the light intensity of the particular plant. In addition, the concentration of chlorophyll of each plant can be measured with the leaf-senor.

MY CROPS APP

With the help of the My Crops-App, the data of every plant will be interpreted in connection with the weather conditions. The user is always informed about the state of the plants, including the current weather conditions and is given reminders about upcoming work like watering, fertilization and harvest.
